Contribute to the Development of Australia’s First Psychologists Standards of Care for TGD People

AusPATH is developing a national Psychologists Standards of Care (PsychSOC) to guide affirming, evidence-based psychological support for trans and gender diverse (TGD) people. This grassroots initiative—led by Emerson Osterberg and grounded in clinical insight and lived experience—will be co-designed with community over the next 6–12 months. We’re seeking contributors from across disciplines and experiences to help shape a Standard that reflects the complexity, diversity, and strength of TGD people and their mental health needs.

If you’re interested in contributing to the development of the Psychologists Standards of Care (PsychSOC), please complete the following short questionnaire. Your responses will help us understand your areas of expertise and interest. We’ll be in touch shortly with next steps and details about the first committee meeting.

AusPATH, in partnership with LHA and Open Doors has created a counterpoint survey to the official Queensland IRIS 1+2 Survey. IRIS 1+2 excludes key voices and focuses narrowly on regret and development concerns. This new survey centres on lived experience, allowing families to share what truly matters in supporting trans children. Responses are anonymous, with optional permission for de-identified quotes to support advocacy.

Here’s a working doc that might help if you’re not feeling confident or don’t have all the background to make the best submission to the IRIS 1+2 Survey you’d like to. This document has been pulled together by various groups, experts and organisations, and is intended as a guide to help shape your responses to the Survey. When filling out IRIS 1+2, it’s important to use your own words. Repeated or copy-paste responses are likely to be excluded, and we want to make sure a full range of experiences and perspectives comes through clearly.
